Update:

The 2014 version of the bill for professional licensing of geologists establishes the profession of geology; defines the practice of geology; establishes requirements for a license as a professional geologist (i.e., experience, education and examination requirements); regulates the practice of the profession; and authorizes geologists to engage in professional business enterprises with engineers, land surveyors, architects and landscape architects. The Senate version of the licensing bill (S03810D) was passed through both houses of the New York State Legislature in June 2014. This is the first time the bill progressed through both chambers, while maintaining the bill language that geologists helped compose. The bill is waiting to be called from the Governor’s office for his review and hopeful signage.
